Joachim Gutmann
Birth date: 1949

Joachim Gutmann studied Germanistics, Anglistics, Politology, Pedagogy and Philosophy in Göttingen and collected various journalistic and PR experiences in Germany and abroad.

He began his work activity as Head of the Department Support Service / Public Relations by the Berlin Studentenwerk (1975 – 1979) and moved afterwards as General Secretary to the World University Service in Bonn, a non-government organization for Development Cooperation (1980 – 1982). In this period he supervised projects in Central America and Africa, published the magazine “Auszeit” (“time-out”) as well as numerous monographys, and moderated international conferences.

From 1983 to 1985 Joachim Gutmann worked as freelance journalist in Bonn (themes: Development Politics, University Education Politics, Management, Labor Market), before returning to the Development Cooperation as Head of the Department by isoplan-Institut Saarbrücken/Bonn. His fields of attention in the following years were the evaluation of projects in Eastern and Southern Africa, the international migration and the foreigners reintegration, basis for numerous journalistic and publicity works. In 1990 Joachim Gutmann became Editor of the “Handelsblatt” in Düsseldorf and there built, with great success, the supplement CAREER / YOUNG CAREER.

From 1993 to 1999 he operated as Chief Business Communication for Kienbaum Consultants International and was there responsible for the 50th anniversary events, the introduction of a new corporate design, the conception and realization of the Internet contents and layout, the Kienbaum edition, the KIENBAUM-FORUM events and media-trainings.

In 2000 Joachim Gutmann founded Comm´On, Gesellschaft für Kommunikations – und Medienberatung, in Cologne, as part of the Service Media Data Group.

From 2001 he is member of the Service Media Data AG board. Besides he is today Member of the Managing Board of GLC Glücksburg Consulting AG.
