“Glücksburger model” successfully exported to Lower Saxony.
GLC Glücksburg Consulting AG takes over tourism in Oberharz.

Hamburg, 16th of December 2008 – Nearly six years after the first successfull tourism outsourcing of a commune in Schleswig-Holstein according to the Glücksburger model, the GLC Glücksburg Consulting AG successfully established its business activities as destination manager in Lower Saxony. Next to the five tourism destinations run privately by GLC in Schleswig-Holstein, the Bergstadt Sankt Andreasberg in the Harz and the Samtgemeinde Oberharz with the small towns Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Altenau, Schulenberg, Wildemann und Buntenbock entrusted GLC with their destination management. GLC will manage six more tourist-informations in a destination with more than one million overnight stays per year in the Oberharz. Therewith the GLC Glücksburg Consulting AG is the biggest private tourism manager by order of contracting authorities with all in all eleven destinations in Northern Germany.

The contract with the Oberharz is valid until 2011, but with an option of prolongation. GLC will save and create 16 work places. It is GLC’s intention to integrate the touristic marketing of the city of St. Andreasberg into the wider destination „Oberharz“ and to benefit from the synergy effects for all stakeholders.
